He outplayed him in the last game I saw. Andersson’s skating is a problem area still IMO and he really struggled against the forecheck. Sure he looks good with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone but you worry every time the puck is dumped into his end and he has to go retrieve it. That’s not a good thing for a young defencemen. Valimaki is the much better skater, bigger, and stronger with the higher upside. And of course the left side was much weaker with only Kulak as competition whereas Andersson has to try and beat out both Stone and Prout.
For the best mix on the team Valimaki makes a ton of sense. Prout/Stone are both physical stay at home dmen. It’s nice to compliment them with a young skilled guy who can rush the puck and is the opposite side handedness of them.
