I hope we don’t. It’s risky, but there’s still value in trying, and your chances increase when there is familiarity.
Picking up young reclamation projects? Most times they’re the Lazars of the world. Sometimes they’re Baertchi, Byron or (insert most of the Vegas roster). Not always fabulous, but more than they were to the team to had them.
And going after someone the coach is familiar with? It’s only preseason, but I’m certainly not upset at the handful of guys we snagged from Carolina.
These situations pay off enough not to shut the door on the whole idea, in my opinion.
