Another thing to keep in mind is that claiming a goalie with Rittich's level of experience is quite expensive. It would cost a team $90,000 to claim him. McElhinney, on the other hand, will only cost $3,375 to claim if the Leafs waive him. If the Leafs waive Sparks, it would cost $63,750 to claim him.
