No, the pay in the broadcasting industry is truly awful.
My first job in tv, the local McDonald's was advertising a starting wage that was 50 cents an hour higher than the starting salary at the local tv/radio stations.
As you gain experience and work your way into larger markets, the money gets better, and people working for the national networks are doing pretty good, but a very large percentage of the people working in radio and tv (especially those behind the scenes) are barely scraping by.
