McDavid started off the season much slower than his final pace - and around the time the Oilers were effectively eliminated from the playoffs, he still wasn’t in the top 10 scoring leaders.
Oilers fans tend to forget that in the part of the season that really mattered for the Oilers’ playoff chances, McDavid wasn’t anywhere near the best player in the NHL - he was merely a good player.
