The way they did it now, I think Aquaman showed well enough in Justice League that the film will get a slight boost at the box office and probably safely cross the $200 Million mark. And the box office for DC’s first 5 films have made about $1.6 Billion while the first phase of MCU (6 films including Avengers) has made $1.75 billion so pretty even.
The quantity of movies that had come out had nothing to do with it though, the big difference is that by the time Justice League came out you had only 2 characters have standalone movies.

Superman and Wonder Woman.

Suicide Squad had nothing to do with Justice League. Superman who was the pillar character for the cinematic universe wasn't around for the first 2/3 of Justice League.

Ben Afflick as Batman was only introduced in what was a poor BvS movie. Flash, Aqua Man, Cyborg were only introduced in Justice League.

Compare that to Marvel who had.

Iron Man - Introduced Iron Man
The Hulk - Introduced The Hulk
Iron Man 2 - Introduced War Machine and Black Widow
Captain America - Introduced Captain America (and longer term Bucky)
Thor - Introduced Thor & Loki

Then they had The Avengers where the only character that was introduced to us was Hawkeye.

We knew who the villian was (Loki), we knew all the supporting characters from SHIELD (Fury and Coulson) and the movies all felt very connected.

DC Universe may have put out the same volume of movies but they rarely felt connected, and didn't actually do a great job of introducing the characters individually (Wonder Woman excluded).
