I think it's the most important Superhero film of all time. It was the first successful reboot of a franchise as WB/DC pivoted away from the Schumacher films.
Batman at the time was still a hot property even after the disaster that was Batman & Robin and a lot of big directors pitched a Batman idea. Give WB credit for picking Nolan as the best director to take over, up until that point he hadn’t really done any big movies. The rest as they say is history.
The fact that this movie has a 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is pretty surprising, especially considering many inferior superhero movies in my opinion are much higher than that.
