It's not the end of the world, but I would have rather the Flames used that pick themselves as a trade chip or actually select their own player to develop or crash and burn instead of giving the Senators a free pass on that bust.

I thought it was a worth-while gamble and was a fan of the trade at the time. Yes Lazar has been a disappointment but part of it was, as someone mentioned, about timing. Getting a player to help ASAP. And hoping that said player could grow long-term with the core as he is the perfect age to do so.
With that said, it obviously hasn't worked out. I like to highlight the "Found Money" that Treliving has come up with though, including:
- Foo
- Gadwin
- Czarnik (We think)
- Rittich
So in my mind Trelivng hasn't left the cupboard bare. We have a great prospect base (6 or 7 young guys pushing for spots right now) and we've acquired some assets for free. So although the results didn't work out (or haven't yet and probably won't)....good on him for swinging for the fences!
