Is that a fact? Both Gillies and Rittich were rookies last year, and received 9 and 16 NHL starts respectively. Gillies now has a total of 10 NHL starts. Do you really believe that both goalies have had "plenty of time" for development? One year of splitting a handful of games in the NHL?
Quite contrary to your view I don't believe that either Gillies nor Rittich is a finished product. I do not think they have had "plenty of time" from which to draw conclusions about their NHL futures. Nor do I believe that both have failed to "step up." I think both Gillies and Rittich took big steps last year towards being NHL goalies, and I expect them both to take further steps this year. Unlike a number of posters here I am actually pretty confident in seeing at least one of them turn in 20 quality NHL starts for the Flames this season. It is ridiculously early to be moving in another direction from two fairly young goalies entering just their second NHL seasons.
I for one have no interest in acquiring 25-year-old Chris Gibson—certainly not at the expense of either Gillies or Rittich.
