One thing that I do see quite a bit is chatter about how lazy retro designs are. Mostly on Twitter, but it seems to always come up when a retro anything rolls out.

I've done a few, and when it comes to transferring an older design onto the new templates there is a ton of care you have to put into doing this.

There will be a jersey on the ice this year that was a nightmare to get just right. Everytime you step back, it's just that little bit off and it's so easy to notice when you know what it should look like. It's easy for you to think you crushed it in a mockup, but the real version is a whole 'nother story. Funny enough, there were a bunch of mockups out there of the jersey we worked on and if anyone stitched one of them they'd look very different from the original.

Not saying that a unique design is by any stretch easier, it's just a different kind of difficult. Coming up with something the masses will rally behind, opposed to answering the call of the rally.
