You are trying to embed the pictures inline, which is the wrong way about it. Go to imgur.com click the green "New Post" button at the top, then upload your picture (browse for it, or drag it onto the rectangle).
Once the image is upload, mouse over the image, and you will see a little down arrow appear in the top-right corner. Click it, and select "Get Share Links". Select the Copy button for the BBCode entry, then paste into your post. Not really straightforward, but that's basically how you post images here.
