If the Flames move Stone and Frolik there is some potential there but our weak prospect pool takes a hit giving up one of Valimaki/Andersson/Kylington along with one of our young NHLers in Bennett.
I would rather go with Smith this year and see what shakes out over the course of the season/summer

Agreed. Smith is definitely still a viable option as a #1 for this season so no real need to go out and trade for Bob this year.
Signing Bob on July01 would be ideal, although we would most likely have to trade both Frolik and Stone to make it work cap wise. With an extra year of pro hockey, it's not far fetched to think that 2 of Foo, Mangipane, Dube, Valimaki, Andersson or Kylington could replace Frolik and Stone.
