The big difference here is that while Gaudreau missed training camp in 2016 he did practice and play several games in the ultra-competitive World Cup of Hockey along with the very best hockey players on the planet. This undoubtedly significantly mitigated the impact of missing Flames camp that year for Gaudreau, and it is a luxury neither the Oilers nor Nurse enjoys.
