No it isn't. In it's heyday it was 300,000+ I believe (someone could correct me on that, as that info isn't released frequently), while in today's climate I wouldn't be surprised if it was still around 100,000.
Then you add in people just clicking on articles here and there (especially on major stories like this) and seeing the content displayed and discussed on social media, you're still likely looking at lots of people.
I'm actually surprised you'd be surprised by this. I think many see the falling of traditional media and maybe because of their social circles assume it's basically dead. It's dying, but still heavily ingrained in our society for now.
