This has not been broken down yet, but it is believed to be 50% federal ($1.5B), 25-25 Prov-City, meaning Calgary residents are on the hook for $750M.
This $750M cost would mean improvements to McMahon, The Oval, Winsport, etc, along with a new field house and rink to replace the Corral.
(ETA: Much of these improvements are going to be done anyway.)
$750M between 1M residents, over a 10 year span (2019-2029) would be $75 per person per year.
Is the Olympics worth $75 a year to you?

Not if it isn't used to replace the arena and stadium. Otherwise it is just throwing away money IMHO and lacks long-term vision.
This city has
- Basically no ball diamond capable of hosting any minor league level of ball
- An aging stadium that is the worst in the league
- And aging arena that is arguably the worst in the league
At some point as a city we need to decide of those things matter to us or not. To host an olympics and spend all that money and not get that stuff would be idiotic.
