Bang on. In one ad, mentioning how the PC was still good at balancing the cheque book and working with spreadsheets (I really bet the "Mom can keep her recipies on the PC too" line from the 80's was likely cut last minute), while Macs were used for doing digital photo albums and videos.
Only if you woke up from your sleep that you've been in since 1990 with an EGA monitor and still spend your time trying to figure out DOS commands, would you fall for that statement.
Are Macs slick? Sure. But for the average user who won't be rendering images from the Hubble telescope, these days, assuming the purchaser does a sniff of research as to what their needs are, a $1500 PC laptop can do as much multimedia, as easily, as a $1500 Mac notebook right out of the box.
