When my wife and I went down for our honeymoon we booked 4 nights directly through the hotel and 2 through Orbitz.

From what I gather hotels will put guests that book directly through them in the better (even if same category) rooms. The four nights ended up in an upgraded suite, two nights through Orbitz were next to the elevators in a room with the thinnest walls I've even seen (could hear the cell notifications of the people in the next room and hear them brushing their teeth).
