I like how Staples bases his evaluation of the contract on minutes played, not skill, points, defensive ability, possession etc.
And it’s indicative of how Edmonton rates their young players. Play them way more minutes than they can handle or deserve and then give them huge contracts because their big minutes makes them invaluable with no consideration given to earning that ice time.
Not to mention the fact Hanifin is a kid and Peters no doubt sheltered his minutes in Carolina. His minutes will certainly increase this season.
