In the real world, as in business where more machines are purchased, PCs dominate. The shoe is completely on the other foot. You will never see a MAC outside of a graphic design shop. It is all PCs. As maligned as Microsoft is they work with hundreds of vendors and their code works with varying levels of success. Newer, faster cooler stuff comes out for PCs on a daily basis. Once you own a MAC it will stay in that state until it dies, you can't update it, you have to buy a completely new machine. MACs work on just the one hardware platform. Easy to streamline your code with only one set of hardware variables.

Why is it they never bring up gaming on these ads? If all you do is surf and play music get a MAC. IF you want to work in business or game or be able to build your own machine, or hot rod your existing machine get a PC.
