Nobody is saying it's a fake injury. Maybe Hossa had a nagging skin injury and maybe Zetterberg has reoccurring back pains as a lot of players do. The issue is that the conditions conveniently become chronic the moment their salaries drop in half or more. They signed these contracts knowing the pay structure and security of getting a lot of money up front and when the back half of the deal comes around they decide it's not worth it to play out the deal. If you are a Red Wings fan how do you feel that your 2nd leading scorer from last season doesn't want to play because he's only making $3 million instead of $7 million? This is the NHL not the KHL and some fans expect better ethics from the supposed best hockey league on the planet.
I'm not going to take the low road and call you an embarrassment for not looking at the reality of what's going on here but I will say this is an embarrassment for the league.
