I see it as a bit of an insurance policy in case guys like Mangiapane/Foo/Dube don't show well at camp and need more time to develop in the minors. Not a guy you worry about losing on waivers but also not a guy who will hurt you in a 4th line role.

Only by virtue of getting a bunch of time on a terrible Canucks team. He's in the same boat as Shinkaruk, not skilled enough for a decent team's top 9, and way too soft to be a 4th liner. I don't miss him at all and expect he will be out of the league quickly once that team starts to improve.
