Goalies are up and down year to year, but if you have a good one, they do not begin to decline after 27. They're not running backs.

None of the articles suggested that a goalies career is done by 27. Obviously a star goalie who is putting up numbers which aren't as good as his previous years could still be the best goalie in the league.
What the article does suggest is that by 27 a goalie is done developing. That is, if a goalie does not prove that they are good enough before then, it is very rare that they will be given any more opportunities.
