I think there is a better chance for the Flames to be looking at a low risk high upside reclamation project like Lack rather than taking on a NHL goalie level contract and giving up prospects.

Steve Mason is a year removed from being a reasonable comparable to Mike Smith.

I don't think he has signed with anyone... This is getting close to the time where the PTO are negotiated or even a 1M deal would provide a good chance for a 12 wins in 20 start backup.

He was awful at the start of the year 0-3 with the Jets and was injured for the the rest of the year but was 5-3 after Hellebuyck took over as starter. He seems to be a solid team guy and and was not a distraction for the Jets and Hellebuyck.
