I liked Brouwer. Met him at the Poker tourney, chatted a while about hockey and other stuff, family things. He is a good guy.

What the Flames signed was a guy that for 7 years running was around 20 goals and 40 points. He was doing reasonably well in year 1 until he got hurt. I don’t think he is as bad as the last year shows, I really think the deadbeat coach got less out of him just like many players. Gio from 55-60 points to 40, Brouwer from 35-40 to 20-25. I don’t think that any kind of leadership or intangibles were ever going to drag Gulutzan’s garbage strategy up to a winning level.

I do appreciate that there are two very good forwards added in Lindholm and Neal, and that Brouwer’s salary would not fit with his projected slotting.

Treliving is a real mixed bag of very good and very questionable moves. I’m not sure what to make of him.

And the Sun is trash.
