There's a difference between a personal opinion (which, even if you have it, an opinion like this is best kept to oneself) and a front page headline in a major local paper.

I was never a fan of Brouwer as a player or his contract, but from all accounts, he is a truly good person who is being treated like a person of questionable moral character, just because of Treliving's mistake and his failure to live up to our unrealistic expectations. I won't miss him on the team, because I think we have better options now, but that's no excuse for treating anyone this way unless they have truly earned it (I wouldn't mind a headline like this if we were talking about a player who was convicted of physical or sexual assault, for example).

My main point about the headline is that it makes Calgary as a city look classless, which doesn't help to attract quality players to the city. Let's show our true character instead of resorting to unnecessary sensationalized low-brow headlines like this.
