I've wanted Brouwer gone as much as anyone else, I actually didnt think it was going to happen this year because I truly felt that if he were used by a coach who knew what he was doing that he could be a useful player despite his contract.
Similar to Stajan. He was overpaid but he was a loyal and useful soldier.
But that headline makes me cringe.
Mistakes were made. His contract was too much, his performance was too poor and ultimately when management indicated that mental fragility and leadership were lacking his intangibles were called into question and basically put the writing on the wall.
But we're not Edmonton. Best of luck to Brouwer, hes had a good career and maybe he'll continue it, but it wont be here.
I regret some of the mean things I've said about him during his time here, although they were grounded in his admittedly poor level of play, but still, its done, its over, mistakes were made and now everyone goes on with their lives. Him a little richer and us a little happier hoping to see an improved team and no more Brouwerplay.
