For as many statisticians that there are on this site, an outlier year quantifying a player as best in the league is a pretty shallow argument.

"Best player in the game" is entirely subjective.
There was a stretch of five good years where Iginla was the premier power forward in the league, one of the best pure goal scorers of all time (while goals where down across the league) fought some of the toughest guys in the NHL and was considered one of the game's best leaders.
To tell anyone there can't be a good case for Iginla being the best player in the world during that stretch is asinine, and beyond weak as a drum to beat in this thread. Find another topic to nit-pick about because this is a horrible time and place to be a contrarian just for the sake of it.
Guy was pure class in every regard and one of the all time greats.
