Well I doubt it's incredibly hard for someone to actually get their hands on a gun if they are looking. Just as with anything else in life, money talks and all it takes is having a friend or a friend of a friend who's involved in shaddy business to have one and there you go.

It's also quite possible that he may have either borrowed or stolen it from a friend who owned it legally.

I don't find it that shocking that he was able to get his hands on a weapon, this is the largest city in the country with arguably a large stockpiles of guns (for Canada) and has had a gun problem for a while now.

We have strict gun laws in Canada compared to the US, there you can literally go down the street with a few $50 bills and buy one or you can buy online and have it express delivered It's a little more difficult in Canada but not impossible, it's not like he was able to board an aircraft with an AR-15 at Toronto Pearson airport that everybody should be stunned.

Condolences to the victims and their families, as a Greek Canadian myself the Danforth has a special place in all of our hearts as so much of our Canadian history has revolved around that area for so many of us.
