His P1/GP was ahead of Barzal and he was doing it a year younger. He and Yakamoto were essentially tied with Phillips being just under a half a year older.
This past season Phillips was right there again sitting 8th in the league in P1/GP, and ahead of both Yamamoto and Dube with three guys ahead of him all being overagers including Gawdin.
His production at the WHL level is elite, but he just hasn't shown it to the same level at Flames camp.

I think if Phillips is going to make it as a pro, it's going to be as a power play specialist which given how important special teams are now, is a good thing for him.
I don't see the skating, quickness and agility in him that you see in other small players who have made it in the NHL.
I'm excited to see how he adjusts in the AHL.
In this round, I went with the safer pick to play in Klimchuk. It's a make or break season for him. He needs to at least put up a point per game in the AHL this season or I think the Flames will cut him loose.
