The sea wall sucks for cycling. There are so many bikes lanes and roads that are a block or two over that are much better options. Stanley Park is awesome for riding, as long as you are there before the tourists get there. They paved the roads a few months ago, so now the surface is about the best in town. There aren't any lights which is great, and you get a good mix of scenery, climbing, and just cruising. My cycling group does a lap of it and then heads to UBC three times a week. I'll usually do some laps in the park on a weekend morning, and I did 10 consecutive laps about 6 weeks ago.
