Rightly or wrongly, propriety matters in these situations, and there is a considerable amount of noise about Fleury's demeanour and interactions when out of the public eye to suggest that he may not be endearing himself to the right people and under the best circumstances. Well people who want to see Fleury recognized are saying that is exactly what is wrong about the process I get that the customers don't always mean much in pro sports, but if this is what's important to ownership, then perhaps this type of recognition should just happen behind closed doors. Since it doesn't, then not hard to understand why fans are wondering why their memories aren't being recognized IMO.
The fact that Fleury's number is not being used suggests the organization is waiting for something to happen before honoring him.
