THRASHERS OFFENSE CONTINUES TO SIZZLE IN RENAMED ARENA

(Atlanta - AP)

In a newly named arena, the Atlanta Thrashers offense continued to sizzle Saturday Afternoon with a 6-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. The old Phillips Arena was renamed the Chantelle Barnes Memorial Arena in honor of the girlfriend of Thrashers GM Sutaria who was killed by a drunk driver last week. The Thrashers played a video tribute prior to the game for her and won the game in her honor. The entire season is now being dedicated in her honor and the Thrashers wore a patch "CB" on their jerseys which will be worn for the rest of the year.

"It was something we wanted to do and tonight's game and the season is now being dedicated to her. She was a huge part of the Thrashers family. We are lucky to have a close group in Atlanta and Chantelle will be with us this entire season." - Captain Forsberg

The offense continued to dominate as it has been lately for 6 goals. Steve Sullivan and Patrik Elias led the way with a combined 7 points. Elias was injured in the 2nd period and is day to day. The Thrashers played without forwards Shawn Horcoff and Shawn Bates who were out with injuries. The Thrashers have tomorrow off before they meet the Predators on Monday.
