I get the earning your time and working your way up mantra, but you also have to utilize players to their strengths. What the hell was Mangiapane suppose to do with a couple of 4th line grinders? It was incredibly stupid of GG not to utilize Mangiapane on the powerplay when he was up. Not like there were a whole lot of better options.
PP and top six scoring role is what Mangiapane was doing in the AHL, so why not utilize him the same way in the NHL? It's like training a worker for one thing and then getting him do another thing when you promote him. GG was just setting Mangiapane up for failure.
