VAR does NOT make decisions on whether something is accidental or card worthy.
VAR make recommendations for reviews. The only person who can initiate the review is the referee.
You don't know what, if anything was said between VAR and the ref. FACT. Despite your earlier claim that they were talking and your latest that VAR dismissed it as not worthy.
Clattenburg is saying that if the ref had initiated VAR there is a high likelihood that the evidence would have resulted in a straight red for a deliberate stamp.
