I would feel more comfortable with a tried and tested option. I’m starting to feel optimistic about the coming season but, just in my opinion, I see a huge potential problem in net if Smith is injured. Rittich and/or Gilles could save the day, but I feel that’s far from guaranteed. I will feel so frustrated if the Flames are in a playoff spot and then boom, Smith gets injured, and a sub-.900 save percentage sinks the season.
However, I think it’s fair to say the collapse this season was the product of basically everything sucking simultaneously.
