He's on the Fan960 right now.
Calgary was the best fit, excited, blah blah.
Figures Calgary made the most sense in terms of opportunity and where he thinks he can fit in the lineup, loved the city, and knows Peters obviously.
Asked where he thinks he fits. Says middle 6 forward, knows the teams that were interested in him value his versatility in the lineup, his PP and PK abilities, etc.
Asked about the Bill Peters factor. Says honestly not a big factor in choosing the Flames, more about finding the right opportunity/fit as a player. Calgary potentially had the best fit from what they could determine.
Asked about the Calgary roster. Says up and down the lineup there's exciting wingers, goal scoring skilled wingers. He wants to win and play with fun players.
Asked about Calgary in general. Says because he played for the UofA he knows the market and is excited about the passion and higher expectations/pressure.
Asked about his unusual career path and if he had doubts. Said he always wanted to be the best in any role and team he played on, and continued to climb the ladder to his goal of the NHL. Said once he was the MVP of the Swedish league, he felt like he could definitely make it to the NHL and that it was time to come back and make the push.
Asked if he might be the "translator" for the rest of the team when it comes to learning Bill Peters' system. Says it will help with Lindholm and Hanifin, and that it should help but Peters is great at introducing his system to new players.
Asked about being the "old" player, despite only being 31. Says yeah Carolina was a young team too, but is a lead by example type of guy but is more than happy to take a larger leadership role if needed. 31 but has low miles on him, but lots of experience and can use it to make his teammates better.
