He's in the prime of his career, is consistent, has performed in the playoffs when relied on, has done well with and without a supporting cast at various times, outperformed skating expectations from when he was drafted, etc. I do think the lesser hitting division he's in means less wear and tear on his head and body, so the 7 year term probably will work out fine for them. He's shown that he's professional no matter what's thrown at him.
