There is risk here but I don't think it would necessarily be a bad move. While he played 31.42% with Draisaitl and McDavid last year and you can assume his numbers were inflated by that, he still had great numbers in New Jersey. He was a +4.2 CF% and +4.1% FF% with them. It was only 17 games, but he might actually be a legitimately good player.
Also, his goals above replacement is 66 compared to Neal's 63.
