This is also the safest, most tolerant, most peaceful the world has ever been. But in a world of 7 billion - or 360 million if you're looking at the English-speaking parts of the world that upload videos to Youtube or Facebook - even behaviour only engaged in by 1 per cent of people happens often enough that it can overwhelm your social media feed if that's what you're looking for. And if we were to reduce these bad things by 90 per cent - reduce murder, racism, sexism - it will still happen often enough in a population of 360 million people that you will see dozens of instances of it a day on social media if that's what you're looking for.
