I'm a former public school teacher so I support it, and send my kids there (though in Springbank the classes are small and the schools have lots of outside funding and amenities). The people I know who don't do it largely send their kids to private for special attention (Calgary Academy) or other special reasons (like the Edge school). The Calgary Academy kids actually seem to get a lot of life experiences over and above public school. I consider the Edge school to be a bit a vanity exercise, but that's just me.
