As someone who works in retail, I agree with both sides of this thread. It's really getting to be quite the challenge to keep a sane head. Most days we are short staffed, so we've all got basically double the work to do, and no extra thanks (not that I expect it, but if people would put an effort to take two seconds to say I appreciate you, or take notice the extra things you do, it would make a huge difference). Don't even get me started on the sorts of people we are working with either! Then to get yelled at, day in and day out for petty things. I take the time to listen, no matter how arrogant the customer is, and from their perspective, I get it as well. I know there's nothing worse then going somewhere and finding something you needed out of stock or not there, or you get bad service. But I'd prefer you have bad service for someone tell THEM, dont take it out on me. I'm polite to everyone, even the regulars who always have sticks up their a$$es, is it possible to get some respect back. That's all we ask. Lately we are being treated like slaves by customers. I know I'm there to serve you, but if I do a good job, and am courteous, at least show me a little bit of respect. I know it's definately rough out there, and there's a lot of knobs working out there, that's for sure, but anytime I go somewhere and get good service I at least say thanks.
