I'm too cheap to pay for private school but I know people that use them. They said that several kindergarten students were told they weren't going to be accepted into grade 1. Dropping the 5-10% most troublesome students must do wonders for class structure while the public school gets stuck with more and more each year.

Ha, this was my kid. Went to private school in grade one. He has some focus problems. Smart kid, but gets distracted. The school wasn't going to advance him to grade 2 because they don't deal with that sort of thing, so we moved him to public. He was ahead of all of the other kids, especially math. The teacher said, he's an awesome kid. He gets distracted but I'm not worried about him because he already knows this stuff. So, public school was a bit of a disappointment.
