There are many ways to interpret 'character' and 'off-ice' issues.

It can mean:

• Doesn't train hard.
  
• Parties too much.
  
• Rubs teammates wrong way.
  
• Isn't bothered by losing.
  
• Stubborn and uncoachable.
  
• High-maintenance prima-donna.
  
• Meddling family or agent.
  
• Affected by off-ice personal issues (money, family illness, divorce) that have nothing to do with hockey.

And most of those traits can be found in otherwise nice individuals. People are complex.
