Even in the 2003 Draft, arguably one of the most amazing drafts in recent NHL history in terms of talent all the way down to 7th round, we sucked. For 18 years since 2000, Flames were able to draft, retain and develop only five elite-caliber players (Phaneuf, Brodie, Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk). Five! This is a horrible record. Our scouting and decision-making system needs some serious freakin' overhaul.
