Trouble is, as I've pointed out already, he did not play a traditional 4th line role under Peters. He was up and down as a 3/4 center all season and saw PP time as well. No 4th line center in Calgary is going to enjoy this type of cushy usage Ryan had in Carolina (at least they better not be). When his minutes drop to the 10-12 ballpark and he logs zero pp time I would imagine the 35 points becomes 25 in a hurry and this makes him nothing more than another run of the mill bottom line player.
I'm ok with the add provided it is a short term low AAV deal as his faceoff prowess and metrics seem to indicate he can at least play. Publicly going after a guy like this though? No thanks.
