Why mess with the shut down pairing of Gio-Hamilton mid season? They were good together and the thought of a Brodie-Hamilton pairing scares me. They’d probably be minuses every night.
This whole Dougie isn’t happy about his role narrative doesn’t make sense to me. He was playing on the #1 pair this entire season and he was playing with Chara when he allegedly wanted out in Boston. Peters never mentioned anything about splitting up a dominant analytics pair either, that goes against his philosophy.
What makes more sense to me is his brother. Freddie was playing in Worcester (1 hour away from Boston) the entire time Dougie was playing in Boston. There were seemingly no problems then, except in 2015 when Freddie was traded. That’s when Dougie supposedly wanted out and the rumors started that he was a “loner.”
Fast forward to 2018 where Freddie and Dougie are teammates again and living together. No problems up until Freddie was waived to Arizona, then Dougie has that whole bizarre media scrum refusing to answer any question regarding his brother. Then Dougie goes on to blow off the media during the exit interviews despite scoring a career high 17 goals. What’s to hate about his role on the team?
To me, everything points to his brother. There’s too many coincidences and too many stories that leads me to believe otherwise. Dougie seems quiet, reserved and not the most openly social guy. He doesn’t strike me as a selfish prima-dona who only cares about himself.
