Martin Frk

Assets: Owns a wicked shot and terrific hand/eye coordination, so he profiles as a goal-scorer at all levels. Is silky smooth with the puck on his stick. Can be a constant offensive threat.

Flaws: Can be guilty of playing to aggressively, both in terms of too many penalties and a bit of a lack of defensive awareness. Could also stand to add more bulk to his frame.

Career Potential: Offensive winger with some upside.

The 24-year-old winger appeared in 68 games with the Red Wings last season and managed to put up 25 points in that span. Very respectable totals considering he averaged just a hair over 10 minutes per night.

At 5v5, he tallied 15 points in 532 minutes. That averages out to be 1.69 per 60 minutes. For perspective, only four Flames produced points at an equal or higher rate last season.

Given the caliber of Frk's shot, it's fair to say he doesn't use it enough. No regular forward in Detroit's lineup generated 5v5 shots on goal at a lesser rate and only Luke Glendening averaged fewer attempts/60. There are also some questions about Frk's defensive game.
