Did Treliving address the biggest need on this team, which he identified over a year ago? Nope. And he used up the best assets available to him to make a deal that has essentially shuffled deck chairs. We are still looking like a team missing a proven scorer on the wing, but the best assets to use to attract that player are gone.
Spin it anyway you like, but this team is still in the exact same situation as they were a year ago. They are going to struggle to score goals and now likely don’t have the assets to acquire the needed player without poking a whole elsewhere.

I'm assuming that Brad is confident he will be making a free agent signing to fill the talent gap on the first line. This trade certainly doesn't address the issue any better than Ferland on the #1 line. If Lindholm is on the top line it is just a stop-gap measure like we have previously seen.
