With the wild overrating of Hamilton around here and the bananas expectations around the return he'd get in a trade, this thread was inevitable. Over the next few years, when we see that Hamilton is not nominated for any Norris trophies, and he doesn't suit up for Canada at the Olympics or World Cup, the rage will die down.
It's clear that the Flames have been shopping Hamilton for a while. The tricky part was always going to be moving him without leaving a big hole in the blue line. That Treliving managed this deal without seriously downgrading the defence in the short run (and possibly improving it in the long run), while also adding a top-six RH forward who has a great two-way game, and both of them under 24 years old, and with the likelihood of locking both up long-term going forward... that's some pretty impressive wizardry.
