To me deals are never going to happen until you feel uncomfortable about it.
When we discussed Lindhom and Hanafin for Hamilton it felt too good to me, so I doubted it would happen in that form. I expected a toss in. I do admit that the toss ins went beyond perfect and into uncomfortable so that suggests it's either fair, or maybe a tough of an overpay for the Flames.
Ferland with one more year left was either going to walk or get paid too much to be up and down. If Fox wasn't going to sign than his value is somewhat diminished.
So I guess my summary is an overpay to get what you want, which to me is not a bad thing to see from your GM.
Hanafin and Lindholm to me are now part of the Flames core, and Ferland wasn't. So that's one out two in for key players at a key age to build around.
So this isn't a "wow we hozed those guys!" day, but I think it's going to be an important trade in this team's current history.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig. Treliving got hosed, he chases his players and he gets caught up in the talks and ends up overpaying. And it's not a good thing when you GM is overpaying, other GMs are going to start taking advantage of this. Even if Fox wasn't going to sign, you don't just throw him in a trade.
